What’s in a Disney Deluxe Resort?

Let’s first begin with a clarification. There is the overall Walt Disney World Resort, which includes the 47-ish square miles of parks, resorts, golf courses, Disney Springs and all the nature in between. Then there are the over 30 different individual Disney Resorts that we call home when we visit the Mouse.

The Disney Resorts fall into four categories:

  • Value
  • Moderate
  • Deluxe
  • Deluxe Villas

The main offerings that separates them from each other are:

  • Location
  • Amenities
  • Dining Options
  • Pools
  • Transportation Options

Disney Deluxe Resorts

The Deluxe Resorts at Walt Disney World have the most amenities, the most luxury, and perhaps some of the most amazing experiences. They can come with the price tag, but you get to decide what is most important to you.

LOCATION

As they say in real estate, it’s all about location, location, location. Disney’s Deluxe Resorts are located at the front, or back, door to the parks. This can bring you spectacular theme park views from your room and proximity so close, sometimes you can walk to the park! Want to wake up with the animals and sunrise on the savanna? Want to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks over the Castle from the balcony of your room? Want to be able to walk home to your room from Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival? How about leaving your sleeping child undisturbed in her stroller while you wheel it onto the Monorail all the way to your resort? I have timed it. I was watching the fireworks on Main Street and I took the Monorail to my room at Disney’s Polynesian Resort and was kicking off my shoes in 11 minutes!! All of this is yours at a Deluxe Resort.

AMENITIES

Deluxe Resorts offer some amazing amenities. Valet parking, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, full service spas, upscale theming for a more elegant Disney flair, marinas with watercraft to rent, the closest proximity to Disney’s four championship golf courses and the largest regular rooms on property. Several have their own full service spa for wide range of salon services as well as pampering therapies to indulge in. Each resort will give you it’s own version of luxury.

DINING

Here we will have the most options than any other resort category. Each Deluxe Resort will offer a food court for Quick Service meals as well as several Table Service restaurants, often including Character Meals. You’ll always be on time for Chef Mickey’s when it’s right there at your front door!

POOLS

Deluxe Resort pools include creative slides, over the top theming, elaborate children’s areas and Disney’s only private water park for guests staying at the Yacht and Beach Club. We could not get our kids away from the pirate ship slide OR the sand bottom pool OR the lazy river! You will really crave a lazy day off from the parks built into your trip when you stay here.

TRANSPORTATION

Other than walking to the nearest park, here you will have the MOST transportation options including the monorail, boats, Disney’s Skyliner as well as buses, depending on where you stay.

Disney’s Skyliner connects four resorts with premium access to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

If you love the finer things in life, or you want to enjoy them on your vacation, then a Deluxe Resort may be in store for you.
